On the Eleventh Hour of the Eleventh Day, we stop to remember
November 19, 2014
The Braves gathered at the main gym today, November 11th, to honor and celebrate all veterans.
The assembly began with a poem read by Kirk Roa, called “On the Eleventh Hour of the Eleventh Day”.
The poem underlined the importance of appreciating the service that our veterans have given us. The poem conveyed the message of how little gratitude we have for our heroes.
This holiday is remembered through a variety of ways, one of those being the poppy flower. Since the poppy flower is the first to grow on the battle fields of WWI, it symbolizes the blood that was shed for our country.
The Brave community was asked to stand if they knew of a grandparent, sibling, or friend who was or is currently serving our country.
A remarkable number of people stood up.
The assembly featured a traditional song called “Taps” played on trumpet by Mr. Richards, which is often played at military funerals.
The gathering was concluded with a heartwarming video of soldiers being greeted by their families.
