Cross Country Victorious at Magnuson

Gracie Kindred, Reporter

Last Friday, parents, family members, students and more came out to Magnuson Park excited to support Bishop Blanchet’s cross country team. As the racers were running their course, supporters on the sidelines ran along with them, encouraging them and cheering them on.

The boys and girls both finished strong, both victorious in this 5K meet. For the boys, Will Schneider, Junior, placed first, running a 15:17.23. And for the girls, Lily LaPorte, Freshman, placed first running an 18:41.17.

Both teams competed against Nathan Hale and Ingraham high school. The boys also competed against O’dea and the girls also competed against Holy Names Academy.

Currently ranked 22nd in the nation, Bishop Blanchet’s Boys Cross Country scored a 15 at Magnuson. While O’dea scored a 57, Nathan Hale with a 69 and Ingraham with an 111. The top five racers were all our very own Blanchet students! The girls XC team scored a 27, with Holy names scoring a 33, Nathan Hale with a 90 and Ingraham with a 94.

All the racers worked hard and ran hard. Each and every racer hustled and persevered. It was incredible to watch everyone give it their all until the finish line.

This week, Bishop Blanchet’s cross country teams have been preparing for the Nike Hole in the Wall meet on Saturday. It is located at Lakewood High School and races will last morning through afternoon. Let’s come out and support our runners!
