The fierce Blanchet Bears football team had their first friday night lights of the year, facing the Redmond Mustangs on September first. As the Lord’s Prayer and national anthem rang out, players locked in, already hungry for the win.
Senior Sam Finnegan started the game off with a beautiful kick and the crowd went crazy, using all their might to create an electric atmosphere. Shortly after, senior running back Sam Merriman got a hold of the ball and scored a touchdown.
“Hearing the crowd cheer while playing is what really motivates me to just keep going,” shared Merriman.
The Bears began the season with a bang. The game continued on and the Bears made amazing plays left and right, locking down on defense and running fast for the end-zone.
“Our communication was nonstop and I think thats what made us so successful and truly made us play like a team,” senior offensive lineman Jacob Cuba stated.
At the end of the night, the Bears had a victory and over 40 points, showing Redmond who really owns green and gold.
“Even though the game went late, I think everyone was glad they stayed to see the players smiles at the end of the game,” senior Claire Souder exclaimed
Overall, this grand opening of the season brought hope and happiness to all of the Blanchet community, and all can agree that we are excited to see where this season takes the Bears.
