Do flying broomsticks, magic spells, or Hogwarts remind you of any particular seven-book-series? If you’re thinking of Harry Potter, you would be half right. Puffs, a hilarious parody of the Harry Potter franchise is the school play this fall season.
Energy builds as rehearsals start, with the first read through of the script and welcome dinner taking place on September 9th. On this highly anticipated night, all of the cast and crews meet and the set, hair and makeup, and costume designs are revealed. “First rehearsals are always so exciting because we get to see all the sets and the designs and everybody gets hyped!” senior Fiore Pignataro said.
These dedicated and enthusiastic student actors meet everyday after school from three to six, memorizing every single cue, line, and costume change to a tee. While it can be stressful and overwhelming at times to balance both theater, school, and homework, the cast and crew stay driven to produce the best show possible, and have an amazing time along the way. “I love being with my friends and the community, because they always make me laugh,” junior Stella Seward said.
Puffs follows the comedic and heartwarming story of a group of misfit, sidelined wizarding students who try to become heroes under the shadow of their peers. As our actors begin to take on these characters, the roles come to life. I encourage you to come see the undoubtedly amazing product of the countless hours our talented students have put in, and come see the shows on November 1st through the 3rd.
