Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?

A: Greece because it’s pretty and has lots of good food.

Q: What is your favorite thing about Bishop Blanchet High School?

A: The sports programs and running cross country.

Q: What is your go-to food in the commons?

A: Chicken burgers and pizza.

Q: Are you a part of any clubs?

A: I am involved with sound and light and would

like to start a rock climbing club.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

A: I like to play video games, right now I am playing FC 25.

Q: What are you looking forward to for the rest of the year?

A: I am excited to play on a Blanchet soccer team.

A: Something to do with psychology or criminology, like studying FBI cases.

Q: What are you most looking forward to this year?

A: Being with my friends and fun assemblies.

Q: Favorite song?

A: No favorite song, but favorite artist is Brent Faiyaz.

Q: Gas Station order?

A: Goldfish and chocolate/gummies

A: Flavored Red Bull with cream

Q: Favorite Trader Joe’s snack?

A: Rice crackers or the Takis

Q: What is your favorite recent trend?

A: The one where you say your parents’ favorite celebrity died and they freak out

Q: If you could get accepted into any college where would you go?

A: UC Santa Barbara, SDSU, or University of Arizona

Q: Biggest pet peeve?

A: When people act like a “pick me” or chew too loud; I have a lot!

Q: Worst fear?

A: Throwing up

Q: Three things you couldn’t survive without?

A: Food, music, and my bed

Q: What age are you looking forward to?

A: Twenty-three, because I get to experience peak life.

Q: What is your favorite period to teach and why?

A: Zero period because it’s a great way to start the day

Q: What’s your go-to drink order from the hive?

A: I’m frugal so I don’t spend money on the hive

Q: Favorite Assembly of the year?

A: Tradition week, because it’s fun to see everyone involved and all the school spirit

Q: Something you’re looking forward to this year? Not looking forward to?

A: I’m looking forward to seeing all the students compete in DECA. i’m not looking forward to having my prep in the library in the winter because I’m always cold

Q: What is your favorite memory at Blanchet so far?

A: My favorite memory was the faculty staff retreats

Lydia Yirtachew

Lydia Yirtachew, a sophomore at Bishop Blanchet, joins The Miter as a first-year reporter. She gets her news from many different social media platforms and people she converses with. From time to time, she watches Kiro 7, King 5, Fox News, and CNN. Lydia is a great observer and likes to view things in many different perspectives. At Blanchet, she plans on joining new clubs and finding new interests. She plans on playing basketball in the winter, being more involved in BSU, Black Student Union, and joining a club called Fitness Gals. In her freetime she enjoys shopping, hanging out with friends, listening to music, and watching shows. This year Lydia is looking forward to expressing school pride through writing and pictures. She's excited to find stories that foster community spirit and looks forward to an incredible yearbook!

Kenji Slusser

Kenji Slusser, a junior, joins the Miter Newspaper as a staff writer. He gets his news from local outlets such as KING 5 and KIRO 7. At BBHS, Kenji is on swim team and was recently in track and field. He is also in DECA, and last year qualified for the State Competition. Kenji enjoys Blanchet’s spirited football games and he hopes to make state for swimming this year. Other than being in school, he loves hanging out with friends and swimming outdoors. This year in journalism, Kenji can’t wait to bring the spirit of Blanchet to life in the Pallium. He’s looking forward to the challenge and is excited to create a great yearbook with the help of teamwork!

Gretchen Lauer

Gretchen Lauer, a senior, joins the Miter this year as a staff member. She gets her news from students on campus, teachers, and local news stations. At Blanchet, she participates in varsity softball. She also participates in the Bigfoot club and Ski and Snowboard club. She loves being outside and exercising, and is always willing to go on a new adventure. Gretchen loves Blanchet's spirit; whether getting rowdy in the stands during spirit week, or dressing the themes for football games, she always participates. She plans to attend more school events this year and join new clubs. Outside of school, Gretchen loves to ski, travel, hike, try new restaurants, and hang out with friends and family. This year in journalism, Gretchen hopes to get the inside scoop from students and teachers on what going to school at Blanchet is really like. She wishes to capture the spirit of Blanchet through her writing so that others can experience it. She is excited to work on producing an interesting and captivating yearbook that is different from past years.

Isabelle Figueira

Isabelle Figueira, a senior, returns to the Miter this year as a staff writer and editor. She gets her local news from sources such as KING 5 and KIRO 7, and national news from ABC News. At Blanchet, she plays varsity tennis with coach Turner. She is one of many leaders in the Ski and Snowboard club, and enjoys everything outdoors. Isabelle loves Blanchet sporting events and cheering from the stands, and she hopes to attend more games and club activities this upcoming year. Outside of school, she enjoys playing tennis and spending time with friends and family. This year in journalism, Isabelle hopes to capture and captivate the spirit of Blanchet through her writing in the Miter and Pallium, our annual yearbook. She looks forward to this year and is excited to take on the challenge of creating another awesome yearbook!
