Homecoming channels Netflix
October 26, 2015
With the theme of the week being Netflix, the 2015-2016 Homecoming was bound to be rated E for excitement.
Monday’s theme was “Walking Dead,”(referring to the TV show commonly watched on Netflix) where students “slept through school” in their favorite PJ’s.
Tuesday was “Lost,” (another commonly watched show) where students dressed in their best camo and outdoor items.
Wednesday was PSAT testing for juniors and sophomores, seniors had the day off, and freshman had a day of service. The day ended in a half day. And unfortunately had no theme.
Thursday, also known as, “Thursday Night Lights” where students dressed in their favorite sports teams jerseys, jackets, t-shirts etc. The halls were a melting pot of different sports and teams.
Friday was Family Feud! On this exciting and final day of homecoming week the student body dressed in their class colors; freshman: white, sophomore: black, juniors: gold, seniors: green.Trying to show which class had the most spirit.
Friday also ended with the traditional homecoming assembly with fun class games including, blackout volleyball (which the juniors class had won), eating competition where students picked a number out of a hat and items were placed in a blender and the first one to drink it all won (juniors won again).
The next game was a rap battle against the classes. Three students were picked from each class, one of the three was given a mouthful of water. The trick to this game was to get the class you were battling against to say something so funny that the opponent would spit out the water. Sadly no one was comedic enough to spit out the water and in the end because of lack of time ended in a tie between the junior and senior class.
Junior power was strong Friday afternoon and won almost every challenge. Accept losing to the senior class in spirit. The senior class roared with spirit and leadership, by being respectful to the other classes but also have a very positive and load attitude.
“It came to a tie in 70 points,” said ASB president Erik Neilson, “so it came down to amount of spirit between the classes, which came to a unanimous decision the senior class had won.”
After the games, the dance team then performed a very awesome performance and captivated the audience with a fierce amount of energy and enthusiasm.
“It was very cool, I couldn’t take my eyes off of them!” said junior, Chad Strazzara.
To end the assembly the cheer team performed a well planned number with different types of formations and moves along with a very skilled lift called a pyramid. The squad ended their number with the famous kick line, while dropping into the splits.
“They did super well! ” Said junior Lucas Gordon, “honestly looked really hard to preform.”
After was the fan favorite, “Super Sonic.” The cheerleaders performed 16 different short eight count dances twice in front of the school, once with a senior football player and the second with every cheerleader’s favorite teacher. The students cheered and clapped watching their friends and favorite teachers try and mimic the moves.
The assembly was closed with a well- written and inspirational speech from the famous Mr. Wilkinson. He shared wisdom on the meaning of homecoming and Blanchet making leaders of the world.
