February 18, 2016
Ruth B, 20 year-old singer-songwriter from Alberta, Canada, hopes to make the leap from social media performer to pop star sensation with the assistance of her first ever EP, The Intro.
Ruth B’s viral hit “Lost Boy” is one of four hits from her EP, The Intro.
Ruth B first attracted viewers on the social media app Vine. This was when she started posting 6-second snippets of her covering popular music of the time, 2013. Not long afterwards, she saw her song, “Lost Boy”, go viral on YouTube as she made her way onto the TOP 5 list on iTunes.
Ruth B signed with Columbia Records, which is now giving her the proper boost into the spotlight.
Her EP, The Intro, is a collection of four acoustic songs. The album includes, “2 Poor Kids”, “Lost Boy”, “Golden”, and “Superficial Love”. The album shows her raw, true talent. The well-known favorite, “Lost Boy”, is all about friendship and growing up in relation to Peter Pan.
“The song had a lot of potential to just be about Peter Pan, fairies and pixie dust, but I wanted people to be able to relate to it”, said Ruth B.
Ruth B’s voice is soothing and corresponds with the stories behind each song. It is soft yet overwhelming at the same time. Her passion resonates in her music and it is very easily noticed. Her music is not necessarily the type you would blast at full volume at a party, but rather, listen to while winding down, relaxing, or reflecting. Her hard work is surely paying off, especially with making her way up on iTunes charts.
Her music is available on iTunes and Spotify currently, go check her out!
