The final kick of the season

This week the Braves varsity boys soccer team season has finally came to a close.

The last game of the season was played against longtime rivals O’Dea. They Braves fought long and hard throughout the whole game, but did not win. The final score was 1-3 as the Braves fell to O’Dea, currently number one in the league.

Throughout the season the Braves have learned a lot about the team as a whole unit. The Braves took a tremendous turn this year from being number one in the league to falling to the bottom. It was an eye opener for the Braves as they continued to push through the season.

“This season was more fun than last year,” said first year captain Jake Kane, “This season I definitely was able to connect with my teammates while being in a leadership position and not just on the field. I’ve built great relationships.”

The ending of a season is always a bittersweet moment, but it was even more bittersweet for the only two seniors on the team.

“As a captain I’ve grown so much this season,” said Edwin Cordova, “being captain has taught me so much. I greatly appreciate the boys soccer program at Blanchet. These last four years have been amazing.”

Although the Braves lost in their final game of the season, they were not disappointed.

“At first I was down,” said Tanner Hanay, “then I realized how much fun I’ve had on the team with my new teammates. Next year we will come back even better. Just wait on it.”

The Braves would like to thank everyone who came out to watch them play. With the team being composed of mainly underclassmen. Taking what they’ve learned this season the Braves are preparing for the next season.

“We have a lot of great players so I’m excited,” said Kane, “for many of the new members on the team that brought great new talent this season. As a team we will continue to prosper, I believe next season will be our best season yet.”

The Braves have nothing but positivity to take away from this season. Their losses made them stronger, and their wins were a reminder of what they can achieve on and off the field.

“This year has been a good ride,” said Jack Robel, “we played hard throughout the whole season and that’s what matter to me. We never gave up the fight. Thanks to everyone who came out to support us.”

The Braves soccer program will say goodbye to seniors Cordova and Robel. Thank you for a great season Braves!
