“I’ve learned how difficult it is being the new student, and how challenging and lonely starting over can be,” said sophomore Georgia Worrell.

Prior to attending Bishop Blanchet, Worrell went to Coeur D’Alene High School in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. She chose to come to BBHS because it is where her mom attended high school when she was younger. She has heard many great things about the school and her mom has had such a great experience that she still talks about it today.

In relation to the school schedule, making the switch from a public school to a private school was a really eye-opening experience for her. She was exposed to the faith-based learning here at BBHS through the theology courses offered. The education has changed the faith aspect of her life in a way that she now considers the Church as a prominent part of her life and is able to be reminded of God and the presence in her life. Her previous high school did not have a block schedule and she had all of her classes every day. She appreciates the block schedule, but does not think the unified day is necessary due to the homework load that comes along with it.

“It was super confusing my first three weeks or so trying to navigate where my classes were, what time I had lunch, all while trying to make new friends in a place where no one knew me,” said Worrell, “which is something that I’ve found to be especially difficult this year.”

She has noticed that the level of seriousness has been kicked up a notch here as opposed to her old school. She has seen how the administration is strict about dress code and not being able to leave the school grounds as freely as she is used to.

“As for the change in lifestyle, my life is completely different at Blanchet and in Seattle than it was in Idaho,” said Worrell. “I’ve learned how difficult it is being the new student, and how challenging and lonely starting over can be.”
