Freshmen year full of fun!

Lights, camera, action! Freshman year is the first year of high school, a time to get accumulated to the flow of high school and get into routine for the next four years. During freshmen year many students can become overwhelmed, with a new homework load, balancing their time, and all the other extra curricular activities they choose to join.

It is the start of a new beginning, a time to branch out and make many friends and great memories. It can be a very tiring time, but everyone must make the best out of this time.

Freshmen Kyle Scott decided to take full advantage of the action when he first joined the Blanchet Community. Showing no fear, Kyle decided to do many things in the Blanchet community, running for class cabinet, joining the drama program, and even joining the sophomore ground crew for the 2016-2017 school year.

When first stepping into high school making new friends can be a challenge. Putting yourself out to join clubs, and sports teams, is a scary thing to do around upperclassmen. The fear of not making it can really shy away a lot of freshmen from trying new things. High school is about finding a thing or club that you’re passionate about. For Kyle this was the love of doing musicals, and plays. This is the love that Kyle found at a very young age.

“I started doing musicals and showings starting in the 4th grade,” said Scott, “and I’ve been in love with it ever since.”

With so much passion for the life of acting and singing Kyle has taken part in many activities in the community.

“So far this year I’ve had the enjoyable time singing the National Anthem for the lights ceremony at the beginning of the year. I was a musician for the Fall play, and I was the character of Valentine in the Spring musical of Mary Poppins.”

Kyle was part of this lovely musical. Being in the drama department is a very time consuming thing to do. With the spring musical just wrapping up this past Sunday, the Mary Poppins cast clocked in hundreds of hours to put on an amazing show.

“It was my first tech week in high school, it was very stress relieving, but said to let it all go,” says Scott “but it was probably one of the best experiences of my life so far in high school.”

Now that the musical is over leaving everyone who put in the hard work with a bittersweet moment, Kyle has to get back into the motions of finishing off his last few weeks of school strong. As an incoming freshmen everyone has the fear of not making friends. With a very sassy loving sarcastic personality Kyle made lots of new friends, attending Blanchet with about 28 other kids from his middle school.

“I just put myself out there and introduce myself to a lot of people’, said Scott, “and through the musical production I meet a lot of talented and amazing people.”

“Coming into Blanchet I had the goals of maintaining a 4.0 GPA, joining class cabinet, getting cast in the fall play and spring musical,” said Scott. “I think as a freshmen I reached my goals.”

Happy he did this, Kyle is ready to put his great personality to work in student government for his class, and through participation in more drama productions. Kyle is ready to take on next year with a bang.

“I think I’m looking forward to planning Winter ball for next year. I’m also excited to see the new talent to join the drama department from the incoming freshmen class.”
