So far… so good for Freshman Jimmy Navone

With his first year as a freshman quickly coming to an end, James “Jimmy” Navone has had an excellent start to his high school career. Before making the big jump from Junior High to “fresh meat” at Bishop Blanchet, Jimmy was attending Assumption St. Bridget (ASB) in North East Seattle.

Jimmy has wide variety of different things he partakes in; football in the fall, basketball in the winter, and swimming and rugby in the spring. With a schedule this full, some may wonder how he does it all, but he manages everything very well.

Navone is a year round athlete with barely any off season. Although he only plays one sport for a Blanchet team, he participates in four different clubs. Out of these, football is his favorite by far.

“I love football and all the connections with people it comes with,” said Navone. “I made most of my friends from freshman football and I’m so glad I had that opportunity.”

Navone is the only boy in a family with four kids. He has three sisters, two older and one younger. The older two both attended Seattle Prep, while the younger is still at ASB. However, when it came to taking the big first step into High School Navone chose the “brave” choice.

“I knew a lot of people going to Blanchet,” said Navone, “so it was a pretty easy transition for me. Although the amount of people in the school was a big difference from middle school.”

With his first year almost under his belt, Navone looks ahead to his upcoming three years at Blanchet. He aims to play for the football program in the Fall of 2016 and continue to form his true High School identity.

“My first year has been awesome,” said Navone. “There are so many things about Blanchet that I love and can’t wait to experience them more these next three years!”
