The Braves varsity volleyball team wrapped up their season defeating long time rival Seattle Prep for the final home game and senior night. The girls also had the opportunity to play in Metros, but they were quickly eliminated. The girls were not proud of with the outcome of their season, but were pleased to see improvement and create bonds.

“I didn’t feel great about the season,” said junior Erin McDonough, “but the best part was growing closer to the girls.”

The defeat against Prep was an exciting win and gave the girls confidence. After recovering from a spinal injury, senior outside hitter, Beatriz Cuevas was able to play in the game. Cuevas was thrilled to fully return in time to play their rival for senior night and even happier to walk out with a win.

“It was awesome to beat Prep,” said junior Olivia Zumdieck. “It gave us a boost of confidence and made me feel really good. That was definitely one of the best highlights from the season.”

Although the record did not meet the Braves’ goals for the season, they were able to have a chance in metros. They played Ballard and lost, went on to play which double eliminated them.

“No matter the outcome of any of the games this season,” said junior Stephanie Waetcher, “we tried to persevere and just work harder at practice.”

The girls, especially the seniors were sad to see the season come to an end so quickly; however, the varsity Braves are planning to work hard in the off season and come back strong next fall.
