New York Firefighter Burns Down His Own House, Frames BLM

Chad Strazzara, Editor

On Thursday, December 1st,  New York firefighter Jason Stokes was processed on the charge of setting fire to his own home. Oh the irony. Not only did he set fire to his own home, he did so while his wife and two teen children were still inside of it. This man is truly a sick individual.

This is not the first time I’ve heard of an individual setting their own home on fire. People have committed this act in order to collect the insurance money on their home and use it to go buy a new house or what have you. The distinctive issue that presents itself in Stokes’ situation is that it appears as though he was trying to kill his whole family in the process.

Now, I don’t know what Jason’s motive was in setting his house on fire, I don’t know if his family was in on it, but I do know that Stokes tried to direct the blame of the blaze on somebody other than himself. Allow me to direct you to CBS News affiliate, WBNG for the report:

Jason, I don’t know if you’re aware of this or not, but we already have enough tension between civilians and cops in today’s world. Why are you out here fanning the flames, both literally and figuratively? What is the point of creating a false narrative that members of Black Lives Matter are going around setting police supporters’ houses on fire?

All this does is keep people on edge. Now, police are more aggressive with civilians, leading civilians feel as though they have to return that aggression. So, all it really ends up doing is creating a damn mess. Which ultimately leads to people actually getting hurt. And you, Jason Stokes, have contributed to that tremendously.

Stokes has been charged with second degree arson and is being held at the Broome County Jail, with a bail  set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 in property. Although I am not familiar with the crime, such a charge certainly seems like a slap on the wrist to me. I personally do not believe that being convicted on this charge would come close to being a severe enough punishment for Stokes’ actions. For God’ sake, his wife and teenage kids were in the house! Shouldn’t there be some sort of attempted murder charge tagged onto that as well?

He put people’s lives at risk, particularly people who are part of the Black Lives Matter movement, by attempting to make it seem as though the people who burnt his house down were anti-police. As such, I would assume the police officers in that area were likely turning that town upside down. All because Stokes decided to cry wolf about who burned his house down. That’s just not right ladies and gentlemen.

I truly don’t get it. I don’t understand his motives and I certainly don’t understand the trivial crime he got charged with. Just a slap on the wrist for second-degree arson? I am appalled. Only time will tell how the situation is resolved. For the sake of Stokes’ wife and children, let’s hope that justice is rightfully served.
