Braves, You Have One Life – Live It!

Did you know that 9 out of 10 people regret something big in their lives, because of a simple and small everyday choice that originates from our bad habits?

The amount of opportunities this world offers is unprecedented. Our ancestors never would have dreamed of boarding a device and being able to fly across the country or being able to talk to a friend living in a different state by putting an object up to their ear.

Theses inventions are all great, but our society has now become so reliant on these new innovations that we fail to see what is right in front of us. People will spend hours checking social media, or spend a whole day on the couch wasting their precious time away. In fact, the average teenager spends more than 5 hours a day watching TV, you could take a trip from Seattle to Hawaii in that amount of time.

Think about your life and all the things you said no to, do you regret it? It vary in the simplest of ways, like: choosing not to study for an exam or not reaching out to an old friend. It seems like just a word, but it is a powerful word followed by actions. That word now because a regret that sits in the back of your mind, thinking only of ‘what if’.

Executive television producer, Shonda Rhimes said yes to everything that she was scared of for a whole year and her life changed dramatically. One of the biggest ways it changed was when her kids (ages 12,5, and 2) would ask her to play, she would do it. Ironically, this ending up saving her career. Rhimes had lost the spark and love she had for her job, to sum it up; she lost her passion. In her business she creates hundreds of hours of shows like hit Netflix series: Grey’s Anatomy. This job requires a lot of creativity, and she was in a slump. Although, once she started hanging out with her children the stress of work fell off her shoulders and she was able to embrace the quality time with her children. Once she did this, she was able to take the emotions that inspired her from her kids and create new show with it. Rhymes now once again, has her spark.

Shutting yourself off from the world with ‘No’ because you’re scared you might not be the best, or because you’re too scared of what people will think can actually make you feel even more isolated than before. You’re stunting your potential and growth just like Rhimes when you say ‘no’ instead of ‘yes’. So Braves, get off your phone, computer, laptop or TV and change your reality with a just simple ‘Yes’.

You don’t want to look back twenty years from now and think about all the things you wish you had done, or the people you wished you stayed in touch with. I challenge each Brave to take in each breath life has to offer and just live life with no regrets. Say ‘Yes’.
