Saturday crews work to stay on target for the October 11th deadline. This crew looks like it is playing Tetris, getting all of the locker to fit in the girl’s locker room.

Since the beginning of Spring Break 2017, Bishop Blanchet High School has been undergoing some major changes.

On August 17th, facing an eminent strike by concrete workers, this crew manages to pour and finish the floor of the cardio and trainer’s rooms. this area extends of the stage in the main gym.

Construction to add a new cardio center, new locker rooms, a brand new heating system new coaching offices as well as a new space for our trainer Dave Grove and injured athletes began in Spring of 2017 at Bishop Blanchet.

Originally the renovations were scheduled to be finished by the beginning of the 2017/18 school year, but that has since been revised to before Homecoming week which begins on October 2nd.

Chris Bilanko understands the setbacks due to the general nature of construction.

“All construction has its setbacks and issues,” said Bilanko. “This is on a major scale so the setback is understandable.”

When asked what he was most excited about for the new additions to our school, Bilanko said that he is excited for the new cardio room which he plans on using every day.

“Great schools have great facilities,” said Bilanko. “This upgrade will really make us more into a collegiate style school.”

The changes to the athletic areas of the school are not the only ones coming soon to Bishop Blanchet though. Over the summer of 2018, the school will undergo another change when it revamps its cafeteria and gathering areas. Current seniors are disappointed that they will not get to experience the new cafeteria for themselves, but are excited to see what is already here in the new athletic spaces.
