Give Blood, Give a Life!
January 4, 2018
Bishop Blanchet High School will be providing a blood drive for the students and teaches on January 19.
The senior cabinet who is in charge of the blood drive encourages everyone to go. Here are a few requirements if you are planning on donating blood.
If you are 18 years old or young you must be 110 pounds or more.
If you are younger than 16, you must have signed parent approval.
If you are taking any medication make sure to communicate that before donating blood.
The process of donating blood takes about anywhere between 30 minutes. A relatively short process in which you can save up to three lives.
“I think it is a really easy safe process to save lives, there are so many people who need blood but only a small percent of the population eligible to give blood actually do” said senior Marianna Mele, who is organizing the BBHS blood drive.
Before giving blood make sure to drink plenty of water as well as consuming a full meal, but avoid fatty foods.
After giving blood make sure to stay eat high sugary foods and stay hydrated.
Listen to the announcements for more information and remember that you have the potential to save a life.
