The video game came with big hype with its set release date of November 17, 2017. The first Battlefront had many weaknesses, one being the lack of a campaign. Battlefront II addressed some of the issues the general public had on the game, including the campaign. Although a step in the right direction, the game still does need work.

When the first game was released in 2004, its success arose through both its unique features and game modes, and its setting which spans across all eras of the Star Wars universe.

Unfortunately, this battlefront series was discontinued, but was rebooted by Dice a decade later in 2015. The rebooted games have lifelike graphics, upon which Dice prides itself. The reason every game doesn’t look as well as Battlefront, is due to Dice’s method of using photogrammetry and Physical Based Rendering.

“The graphics make me feel like I’m watching a movie”, said senior Sam Peerce “ It’s so lifelike”.

The game also improves upon the first installment by its addition to a brief campaign. Although the campaign is relatively short, it’s an improvement nonetheless.

Another major improvement in this game is the expansion into the newer and older eras that the first installment didn’t include. It gives a sense of fresh air with new characters and weapons.

“I personally really enjoy it”, said Austin Aiona “ It is always good to have a change in scenery every now and then”.

Although the game had major key improvements, it still has it shortcomings. There are critiques of the campaign being too short, lack of a survival mode, limitations on some game modes and much more. The new rebooted series is a work in progress however still has arguably the  greatest visuals of any game so far. The sound effects and visuals make the game feel so lifelike and realistic. Also the addition of some game modes such as challenges do help it’s case.

The game is still relatively new and can expect major adjustments within the coming months.
