JVC Girls Basketball Powers Through Midseason

Bishop Blanchet’s JVC girls basketball team came out on top after a hard fought game against the Kennedy Catholic Lancers.

The January 18th game at Bishop Blanchet was extremely fast paced.  The score between the two teams went back and forth throughout the game, keeping the crowd at the Arnie Rose Center on the edge of their seats until the final buzzer.   In the end, only one basket separated the Braves from the Lancers.  The final score was 26 to 24. Sadie Cowden and Emme Lenord put up the most points for the Blanchet girls against Kennedy, impressing their teammate, Ella Burmester with their skills and attitudes.

“They are both so aggressive with the ball and have great sportsmanship,” said Burmester.

This Blanchet JVC team is on a roll.  This victory marks the girls’ fifth win in seven games. Thus far in the season, the team has taken down some of Blanchet’s most tenacious rivals, the Seattle Preparatory Panthers and the Holy Names Academy Cougars.

The girls have just two games left this season, facing opponents Holy Names and Garfield. As the Braves’ season winds down, Burmester noted how far they have come as a team.

“We now flow together and have great communication on the court,” said Burmester.
