Students Head Back to School After Winter Break

For some students, returning to school in the new year, after twenty days of much needed relaxation, may be difficult.

Whether you traveled to the tropics, or enjoyed the white Seattle Christmas, getting back to the early mornings and the last three weeks of the semester is a hard adjustment. In the small time period between now and finals, many teachers are trying to finish up all of the first semester curriculum.

Senior Scott Yeung especially feels the weight of the transition.

“When I was on break I didn’t have a routine,” said Yeung. “Now that I’m back at school, I’m exhausted from doing nothing to doing a lot. The most I did over break was attend family Christmas parties, and school feels even stranger in 2018.”

On the other hand, senior Chase Font feels relieved to be back at school.

“We have such a short time before high school is over,” said Font. “Being back at school isn’t so bad, and over the break I worked a lot.”

Similarly, Mr. Chuck Bocian, the vice principal for student activities, is excited about coming back.

“Returning to school was tough for me because my alarm went off at 5:45am,” said Bocian. “But it’s always good to be back, I actually am one of those teachers that misses you students!”

As first semester comes to an end, remember to keep working hard.
