Boys’ JV Basketball Start Strong

For the first game of the season, the Blanchet JV boys’ team came out with a bang, finishing on top over a quality Kentwood team on November 29th.

A lot has changed this year for the Blanchet Basketball program. Between losing valuable seniors and getting a brand new coaching staff, no one knew what was going to happen this season. It appears that it has taken the Braves no time to adjust to the these changes, as both the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams took away victories this week.

Although the new Junior Varsity Coach Joe Sauvage is new to the team, he has had plenty of experience coaching over the years. Sauvage has coached CYO teams for Our Lady of Fatima and rec teams for Hoopaholics. It appears his leadership and  knowledge has already had an effect on the team, as their victory over Kentwood showed.

Junior Eddie Shelton feels very confident that the team this year is going to continue have more like this one through the rest of the season.

“We have looked great so far in practice, and that win definitely showed that our hard work paid off,” said Shelton. “I guarantee we’re going to keep winning if we continue to play like we have been.”

It’s going to be an exciting and different year for the Blanchet basketball program. With new coaches and new players, the Braves are going to be a team to look out for this year.
